Introduction
These rules are to be followed by everyone on The Dark Portal, this includes Game Master (GM), Administrators and System Administrators.

Playing here
Playing on TDP is not a right, it's a privilege, a privilege the admins/gm's can remove without notifying you. So behave yourself in-game, and think twice before doing something stupid

Penaltys
If you choose not to follow these very simple and clear rules then the penalty could be anything from a rename to a ban (ALWAYS ACCOUNT AND IP BAN). The penalty will be decided by the GM at the scene. If you do not agree with the penalty you received you are welcome to post a complaint in the GM complaints section on this forum.

Heated discussions
Discussion is good and healthy, it keeps everyone awake, and sometimes it gets nice results. But lets not get too heated in discussions about (included but not limited to:) religion or political views. If you want to get a heated discussion about that do it in private (whisper or mail).

When a GM notices that a discussion on our world channel/guild/normal chat gets too heated, he will ask the participants to change subject. When no answer is given to this request the GM is allowed to take actions.

GMs are not search engines
A lot of people think that if you cant find something that you need for your quest you can simply ask a GM, no, GM s are there to help you with problems, not the fact that you cant find something. For those problems we have wowhead.com, or even the quest text in the game itself.

Language
The Dark Portal has a chat channel called world, on the world channel there is only one language that may be spoken, and that language is English. This is just simple politeness to the other people on the world channel.

When you address a GM the only language you may use is English, unless told otherwise by the GM. Also GM tickets are to be made in English. tickets that are written in languages other than English will be discarded.

Being mature
The Dark Portal tries to run its server as professionally as possible, but we expect the same from the players. If you find something that is not working, or you lost an item, we expect you to be patient while awaiting help.

And when things go wrong we want you to remember that the system administrators of this server are not professionals and try their best to keep everything working correctly. They have put money in and we expect some gratefulness back. (also see rule 4)

Internet cafe/Shared ip policy
If a person violates the rules, in an internet cafe/shared ip, a place where more than 1 person plays. Then we will ban the internet cafe/shared ip and all accounts on that ip. No exceptions will be made. So all accounts from that Internet Cafe or shared ip will get banned.

Make sure no one breaks any of the rules from your internet cafe or shared ip or every player on that ip will suffer for the actions of 1 person.

THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE!

Rules List

1. Cheaters, The Dark Portal's policy on cheaters is very simple. They will be kicked off our server never to return again (IP & Account ban). When we find that the cheater is changing IP to return to our community, we will not hesitate to ban IP ranges. We have done this very effectively before, and we will do it again.
1.2. (bug) Exploits, Exploits will be treated the same as cheats, even if the exploit is a bug.
1.3. Arena Exploiting, This will be treated as normal exploiting, and thus holds the same paneltie as cheating (Perm ban). Peolple who are doing this.. will know.

2. Insulting, Insulting other players, or game masters/admins will not be tolerated, For the punishment system see rule 11.
2.2 Insulting Crew members (Admins & Game Masters), Insulting a crew member will be punished with a permanent account and ip ban.
2.3 Usage of the word noob, this will be treated as insulting (Also see rule 6 & 11).
2.4 Donater We will treat donaters the same as staff regarding insults.

3. Racism, racism of any kind will not be tolerated in any way, and will results in an instant permanent (non-expiring) Ban of Account & IP. (Also see rule 1).
3.2 Disrespectful behavior, This is not as racism, but will get you punished. (also see rule 11).
3.3 Disrespectful behavior towards Crew members, This will be punished, harder than being disrespectful to a normal player for obvious reasons.

4. Nagging, A complaint or statement is one thing. But nagging (Person who excessively complains/bitches/whines.) is just extremely annoying to everyone. And will be punished. (also see rule 11)

5. Advertising other servers, this will not be tolerated, and will always result in an instant ban (IP & account).
5.1 Advertising, advertising paid, or un-paid services, or other websites, will result in a penalty (also see rule 11). Unless you have received an exception from an system administrator.

6. PVP, We expect every player to act decently while PVP'ing, this means no insulting after you lost a duel, and such.(see rule 2.3 & 11 & )
6.1 High rated PVP, On the HR it is not allowed to kill players with more than 10 level difference.
Attacking and killing players or dueling is NOT allowed in Dalaran, this area is SANCTUARY
6.2 Blizzlike PVP, It is not allowed to kill players with more than 10 levels difference. (Also when you have killed someone you should wait until he has regained health fully.)Rule Suspended until further notice.Meaning Blizzlike pvp rules are the same as HR pvp rules.
6.3 Do not attack players that wish to enter instances to raid, this includes attacking players at raid respawn points, either in groups or singularly, this means: DO NOT sap, fear, or hinder in any way as a player/s is/are entering an instance.
Attacking and killing players or dueling is not allowed in Dalaran, this area is SANCTUARY


7. Begging, Begging for anything to any player is not allowed, you can ask for items, but not beg. begging is annoying, and wont get you anything faster.
7.1. Begging to Crew members, Begging to crew members will be punished harder than begging to normal players will.

8. Responsibility, Every player is responsible for his or her own account, and therefore his or her password. If you lose / forget your password you can recover it, if someone acquired your password and deleted your character/items or such, that is not the problem of The Dark Portal.
8.1. Responsibility of crew members account, The responsibility of the crew member accounts (that have special right's) lies with the system administrator, and the system administrator is thereby allowed to lock/ban/change password on account's that have special crew members right.
8.2. Crew member failure to keep password secure, if the crew member in question fails to keep his password safe from other people other than himself. the responsibility changes from sys admin to the crew member himself. Upon finding out the sys admin will immediately close the crew members account.
8.3. Sharing accounts, it is not allowed to share accounts with anyone, if you do so the responsibility will immediately change to yourself. It will be down to you and only you if a character got deleted, or you got banned because there was a cheat or someone insulted staff members on it. The staff will NOT replace deleted items / chars or reinstate banned accounts or ip's if you have shared account details.

9. Names, only normal names are allowed on the dark portal, this means that names like (included but not limited to) fubitch, will be renamed, and kicked without prior notice to the player.
9.1. Generally known GM names, Game masters have a username that is generally known, like destroyer, dest, destroen. Those names may not be copied, upon doing so you will be given a rename with no prior discussion or warning.

9.2 Non standard Characters, It is not allowed to use non standard english characters in your character names.This means no local language characters like Russian/Bulgarian/Romanian etc.If you use these characters you will be kicked and renamed.

10. Acting like a crew member, It is not allowed for normal users to act like they are a crew member, in order to get special privileges with players such as items or your password. (NOTE: THE DARK PORTAL CREW WILL NEVER ASK FOR YOUR PASSWORD!
10.1 Impersonating a Crew Member or Pretending to be a Relation / friend of a Crew Member, This is most definitely not allowed.Anyone found to be saying they are a Crew member or are related / friend to a crew member for any reason, when this is not true, will be instantly and permanently banned with no appeal.

11. What staff members say, goes, when a admin/gm tells you to do something, you do what they asked you. If you do not do so, staff members are allowed to take actions.

12. Penalties
At the Dark Portal we apply a 3 strike system. Everybody understands the 3 strike's system. Like they say in baseball "3 Strike's You'rrrrrreee OUT!", we do the same.

The first time you break a rule which does not carry an instant ban, you will get an official verbal warning, which is registered on our system.

The second time you break a rule which does not carry an instant ban, you will receive a temporary ban, the length of the ban will be decided by the Game Master at the scene.

The third and last time you break a rule you will get a permanent ban, no discussion or argument, your time at The Dark Portal will be over, finished, end of story.

13. Arena Tournament rules, All arena tournament fights have to be fought according to existing PVP rules.
13.1. tribune's, during the arena tournament fighitng on the tribune's is not allowed, neither is it allowed to disturb fighting teams in the center of the arena in anyway.
13.2. Loosing, during the time of the tournament there will be an admin at the scene who decides who has won the battle. If you feel you have been mistreated use the contact form on the website.

14. Multiboxing or playing with mutliple clients at the same time is only allowed for 2 clients, not for more, be aware of this! Multiboxing is NOT allowed in instances, Arena or BG's under ANY circumstances. This is cheating and a banable offence.

15. Battleground rules, We want out battlegrounds being played the way it has ment to be played.
15.1. Camping, Camping the graveyard in the battlegrounds is forbidden, and will be monitored by our battleground moderaters.Rule Suspended
